Marilyn Miller
CPA, Partner
Marilyn, co-owner and Partner of Miller & McPhail, CPAs, was previously associated as owner, manager, and a member of the Board of Directors at other accounting firms. She holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Tennessee Wesleyan College.
With 29 years of experience, Marilyn's area of expertise includes tax preparation and planning for all types of entities, including individuals, small and large businesses, trusts, and estates. She also has extensive experience in Internal Revenue Service representation, consulting, bookkeeping, payroll services, and financial and retirement planning. She is a member of the America Institute of Certified Public Accounting and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Active in her community, Marilyn serves on the boards of the Etowah Housing Authority, Tennessee Wesleyan Board of Trustees and Woods Memorial Hospital Foundation. She is past President of the Etowah Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Board at Etowah City School and currently serves as Chairman of the Finance Committees of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She is also a graduate of Leadership McMinn and founding member of WISE, Women Inspiring Success & Excellence. Her hobbies include travel, hiking, reading and spending time with her son Max Miller, daughter in law Faith, and soon to be grandchild.

Angie Croft
Payroll/Bookkeeping Specialist
Angie joined the firm in 2006 and coordinates the Payroll and Bookkeeping operations for the firm. She received an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Cleveland State Community College. Prior to joining the firm, she was the Accounting Supervisor for Payroll and Accounts Payable for a local hospital.
With over 30 years of experience, Angie's expertise lies in the areas of bookkeeping and payroll services, as well as Quickbooks and Sage Software.
Angie enjoys spending her spare time watching college sports and is a big fan of UTC Lady Mocs softball. She also enjoys travel (especially to the beach) and hiking. She and her husband, Tim have been married for 32 years and have 2 grown sons.

Ashton Robinson
MBA, Staff Accountant
Ashton graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan University with a BS in Business Administration and an emphasis in accounting and joined the Miller & McPhail team. She earned her MBA with an emphasis in Accounting.
Ashton’s areas of expertise are personal and business tax return preparation, bookkeeping, and financial statement reviews.
In her spare time, Ashton volunteers with CASA of McMinn County and enjoys traveling and the outdoors. She also likes college football and spending time with her husband and dogs, Ruby and Jolene.

Ashley McDowell
MBA, Staff Accountant and Bookkeeping Supervisor
Ashley graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan University in 2019 with a BS in Business Administration with emphases in Accounting and Finance. She interned with the firm during Tax Season of 2020 and was hired on full time later that year. She also earned her MBA with an emphasis in Management from Tennessee Wesleyan in 2020.
Actively involved in her church, Ashley currently serves as the Secretary, Treasurer, Social Media Coordinator, and Sunday School Superintendent at the First Church of God here in Athens. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, traveling, reading, learning to quilt, and spending time with her cat, Sophie.

Taylor S. Moses
Staff Accountant
Taylor recently graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan University in 2023 with her MBA in Accounting. She joined the Miller & McPhail team as an intern at the beginning of 2023. She was hired as a full time Staff Accountant in May of 2023.
Taylor is a business owner here in Athens, TN. Along with working for Miller & McPhail, she also runs Taylor’s Music. Taylor is one of the children’s directors at her church Union Grove Baptist in Niota, TN. She has three children and in her spare time enjoys spending time with her kids, playing guitar, and traveling.

Jessica Klaaren
Staff Accountant
Jessica is an Athens native and joined the Miller & McPhail team in December of 2023 after graduating with honors from Tennessee Wesleyan University with a BS in Business Administration and an emphasis in accounting. She received the most outstanding student award for her program’s graduating class. Jessica graduates with her MBA with an accounting focus in May of 2025.
Jessica has over two decades of experience as a small business owner and Realtor. She loves working with other business owners to help them find new ways to save on their taxes. She also enjoys bookkeeping and helping clients learn organizational systems for their business expenses to help save them time and money.
In her spare time, Jessica plays disc golf, creates jewelry and art, and enjoys going to concerts with her husband and friends. She also serves on the audit and scholarship committees of the Athens Elks Lodge.

Vera Ware
Receptionist
Vera Ware serves as receptionist for the office. She is responsible for handling the front desk, greeting visitors, answering telephones, and taking messages, and other administrative support functions. Vera has been with the Firm since 2020.
